Our bursaries are an investment into supporting young musicians attending Guildhall Young Artists Taunton (GYA Taunton) from the first day they join, to the end of Year 13 if they wish to stay on the course and are still eligible for funding.
These are means-tested and may be either a full fee waiver (for households with a declared residual household income of less than £30,000) or a partial fee waiver (for households with a declared residual income of up to £45,000 p.a.).
These are available for students who live in West Somerset. This area has been identified as a priority for funding by the Government and the Guildhall School Access Agreement supports students’ travel costs from West Somerset attending GYA Taunton’s Saturday term time activities. Travel bursaries are awarded on a means-tested basis.
How do I apply for a bursary?
Applications are invited from parents / carers of all young musicians aged 5 – 18 whether they are new to GYA Taunton or currently enrolled. All bursary applications will be considered in strict confidence and with reference to the strict criteria for bursary funding. We try to keep the whole application process as simple and quick as possible and of course it goes without saying that everything is completely confidential.
The deadline to apply for a bursary has now closed. Applications for bursaries will open in 2022, please keep an eye on this page for further information or get in touch with us.
We are able to offer bursaries thanks to the generosity of several funding bodies including the Guildhall School Access Agreement, Bishop Fox’s Educational Foundation, Sound Foundation Somerset and Somerset Music Education Hub with funds from Arts Council England.
